Chieftains fit to be tied

HARTFORD — A pair of second half goals lifted host Hartford to a 3-3 draw with Dowagiac in non-conference soccer action Monday night.
The Chieftains grabbed a 3-1 lead in the first half thanks to a pair of goals by Craig Zebell and a goal by Alvaro Scherer.
Zebell’s goals in the 17th and 36th minute sandwiched Scherer’s goal in the 28th minute.
Jesus Gomez scored the lone first half goal for the Indians in the 39th minute.
In the final 40 minutes of play, Juan Perez and Juan Lopez each scored a goal to force the tie.
Perez scored in the 50th minute and Lopez in the 55th minute on a penalty kick.
“It was a well-fought game between two evenly matched teams,” Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said. “I am proud of our guys’ effort and attitude.”
The Chieftains jump back into Wolverine Conference play Wednesday night when they host Vicksburg.
The match is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
