The Dowagiac freshmen football team was victorious Thursday night with a 46-0 shutout of visiting Allegan.

Bryce Dodd was 5-for-5 with 115 yards and two touchdowns. Anthony Burling and Justice Hernandez each had a touchdown reception.

Jason Presley had two doubles, while Dantae Murphy also scored.

The Chieftains got a 73-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Burling as well.

Devin Chapman had a 55-yard interception return for a score and Chase Camp had nine tackles.

“We finally played a full four quarters of football tonight,” Dowagiac coach Tony Scaccia said. “I was very proud of the way we flew around on defense. Offensively we still have some area to improve on, but all in all our kids turned in a great team effort.”
