The postseason is officially under way in Michigan.
On Thursday, where weather permitted, regional golf and tennis matches were held.
More events will be held today, as well as district tournament draws in baseball and softball.
We want to encourage everyone to get out and support their local teams as they begin their quest for a state championship.
This is by far our favorite time of year.
Each and every team in the entire state, regardless of size, can throw out their regular season records and set their sights on the big prize.
Locally, there are several teams which should make strong postseason runs. The Niles baseball team is ranked among the state' best and will compete in Stevensville later this month in the district tournament. The Brandywine and Dowagiac softball teams are also ranked in the most recent coaches polls and are looking forward to trying to reach Battle Creek and compete for the state title.
Closer to home, Buchanan's tennis team is the defending Division 4 state champions.
The Bucks hosts the Division 4 regional tournament today at Leeper Park in South Bend, Ind.
The tournament began this morning, but will continue throughout the day, wrapping up in the early evening.
Not only are the Bucks competing in South Bend, but so are teams from Brandywine, Edwardsburg and Dowagiac.
There is nothing like a regional tennis tournament.
The action is constant and there are plenty of quality matches to watch.
The nice thing about playing the regional at Leeper Park is that it is fan-friendly. The facility provides a nice view of the playing surface as it is surrounded by a park.
We want to take this time to wish all the competitors good luck as they compete for a spot in the state tournament which will be held the first weekend in June.
