Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Niles is hosting The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) for a non-partisan voter education workshop at 3:30 p.m. Sunday for anyone interested in learning more about the voting process, changes in voting laws or even those who have not yet registered to vote.
“There are so many people who don’t realize their eligible to vote … We’re not telling them who to vote for, we’re just wanting them to be educated and registered,” said Charlie McAfee, secretary of Mt. Olive M.B. Church.
Guest speakers will include the president of APRI, Mary Crayton-Cross, as well as a historian from the organization.
This is a non-partisan effort McAfee said he hopes will bring more people to the polls in November.
“We just want everybody, any questions or concerns. There’s been so many changes in the voting rules and voting laws, we want people to come out so we can share the answers we have,” McAfee said.
