DECATUR — Stanley J. Dyrcz, 84, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, on his birthday in Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo.

Stanley was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Phoenix, Ill., the son of Joseph and Agnes (Prebska) Dyrcz.

He farmed in Decatur for several years and was formerly employed by Contech in Dowagiac for 28 years.

He was a former member of Dowagiac Moose Lodge 933.

He married Jean Sherburn Oct. 14 1950, in Decatur. His wife survives.

Also surviving are: three sons, Larry (Georgia) Dyrcz of Fairfield, Ind., Tony Dyrcz of Lewiston and Terry Dyrcz of Decatur; a grandson, Nick Dyrcz; three great-grandsons, Zachary, Hunter and Ryan Dyrcz; a sister, Eleanor Sowa of Woodstock, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Annie Overley; two brothers, Walt and John Dyrcz; sister-in-law, Sally Dyrcz; and brothers-in-law, Andy Sowa and Don Overley.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Newell Funeral Home, Decatur, with James Abshagen officiating.

Friends may call one hour prior to services.

Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery, Decatur.
