Edwardsburg captures jamboree

River Valley hosted a Lakeland Conference golf jamboree Monday at Chikaming Golf Course and Edwardsburg captured first place.
The Eddies shot 171 to easily outdistance River Valley's 176 and Coloma's 177. Buchanan finished fourth at 178 while Brandywine took fifth with 180. Bridgman finished sixth with 183 and Cassopolis took seventh with 186. Berrien Springs finished eighth with 187.
Jon Muff led the Eddies with a score of 39, which was also good enough for a tie with River Valley's James White and Buchanan's Nathan Layher for medalist honors. Also competing for Edwardsburg were Sammy Ludwig with a 42, Nick Roth with a 44, Adam Horn and Jesse Johnson with a 46 each and Kris Merrill with a 47.
Kory Bridges and Josh Dickeson led Brandywine as each shot 42. Danny Rauch shot 45 while Joe Sobieralski shot 51. Mike Beauchamp shot 54 and Justin Ely shot 56.
Besides Layher's 39, Buchanan got a 44 from David Christy, a 47 from Andrew Colip and a 48 from Matt Adams. Brian Lembke also shot 52 while Jeremy Bachman shot 53.
Coloma still leads the overall league standings with 43 points. River Valley is in second place with 39 points and Edwardsburg has moved up to third place with 31 points. Buchanan is in fourth place with 29 points and Brandywine is in fifth with 26 points. Bridgman is in sixth place with 23 points, Cassopolis is seventh with 17 points and Berrien Springs is eighth with eight points.
Buchanan hosted a Lakeland Conference golf jamboree at Brookwood Golf Course Friday afternoon and Coloma won the event with a team score of 170.
Edwardsburg finished second with a score of 180 while River Valley finished third at 185. Brandywine finished fourth with a score of 193, Bridgman came in fifth at 199, Buchanan finished sixth at 201, Berrien Springs came in seventh at 202 and Cassopolis finished eighth at 208.
Coloma's James Bradshaw was the medalist with a low score of 38.
Justin Ely and Mike Beauchamp led Brandywine as each shot 43. Joe Sobieralski shot 53 for the Bobcats and Josh Dickeson shot 54. Alex Newman shot 55 and Justin Sobecki shot 58.
Nathan Layher led Buchanan with a score of 42. David Christy shot 46, Scott Lolmaugh shot 56, Jeremy Bachman shot 57, Brian Lembke shot 58 and Andrew Colip shot 59.
Sammy Ludwig led Edwardsburg with his score of 42. Jesse Johnson shot 44 while Jon Muff and Adam Horn each shot 47. Nick Roth shot 50 while Ryan Stoneburner shot 56.
The second-place finish moved Edwardsburg up in the league standings to fourth place with 23 points. Coloma leads the league with 37, River Valley is second with 32 and Buchanan is third with 24. Brandywine is fifth with 22, Bridgman sixth with 20, Cassopolis seventh with 15 and Berrien Springs eighth with seven.
