NILES - Niles tennis coach Rob Babler seems pretty comfortable with his team this year. He has eight returning varsity players and admits they have worked harder in the off-season than any group he has had with many of them playing and receiving lessons throughout the year.
Returning for the Vikings are Colin Smith, Nathan Fink, Nick Neumann, Skyler Mudd, Jon Poole, Jon Smith, Danny Rodts and Julian Freas.
As far as key players, Babler said all of them are. "We are a team and the players feed off each other."
Babler said he doesn't know what to expect as far as season results go because he hasn't seen any of the other teams play yet, but he admits that St. Joe is always the team to beat in the SMAC West Division.
The Vikings kick off their season on Tuesday, March 29 at home against Sturgis. Match time is set for 4:30 p.m.
