Thirty-six teams of four registered to play golf, win prizes and support Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital at Spruce Ridge Golf Club in Dowagiac Friday.
The 8th Annual Lee Memorial Foundation Golf Outing was estimated to have raised $18,000 for the hospital.
The scramble began at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start. According to Karen Judd, chairwoman of the Lee Memorial Foundation Board of Trustees, there was a waiting list for the outing; 36 teams was the maximum number allowed.
Entry was $50 per person, and included 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch, water and the opportunity to win cash prizes for the longest drive (male and female), closest to the pin (male and female) and $10,000 in the hole-in-one contest (sponsored by Preferred Printing Inc.).
The event’s proceeds will help purchase a ventilator, a Hoyer lift, Neptune machines for surgery and other equipment for Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.
The golf outing was previously the foundation’s only fundraiser of the year; it is debuting the Beer and Wine Tasting Event Aug. 4 at Blackmond Farm on Indian Lake.
Tickets were sold out, but more have been printed, Judd said. For tickets, call Beth Cripe at (269) 783-3026.
