Rep. Sharon Tyler, R-Niles, was honored with the 2012 Community Woman of Distinction award this week during the Delta Kappa Gamma Society’s annual May Memories dinner.

The dinner is hosted each year by the DKG’s Pi Chapter and celebrates community and chapter leaders as well as members who have been with the society for 40 or more years.

“I am honored to have received an award such as this from the Delta Kappa Gamma Society’s Pi Chapter,” said Tyler.

“The caliber of women who serve in this society, and who have received this award in the past, is an inspiration to me, and I am humbled to be included among them.”

The award ceremony also included former chapter president, Mary Working, who received the Chapter Woman of Distinction award and the installation of officers Janet Gerstler and Marilyn Maurer, incoming vice president and president, respectively.
