Proud to be BUGs

NILES - There is a new kind of "BUG" at Ring Lardner Middle School.
The hope with this new bug, is that is becomes something that all of the students want to catch.
BUG stands for Bringing Up Grades. It is an honor roll program in which Ring Lardner has implemented with the help of the Kiwanis Club of Niles and Southwest Michigan.
In order to be eligible for the program, students must, within a nine week marking period, raise their grade point average by .5 or above. In addition to this, their grades cannot drop in any class from one marking period to the next.
The goal of the program is to give all of the students who attend Ring Lardner the opportunity to experience the feeling of pride and the sense of accomplishment that comes with knowing they have done their best.
Receiving the award were, eighth graders, Bruce Berkey, Jessica Betts, Kyle Burr, Markus Dodd, Bradley Heron, Rachel Lawshea, Greg McNair, Joshua Ockerman, Chris Otolski and Tyler Watson.
Sseventh grade, the recipients are: Emily Barts, Jonathan Chester, Lea Fisher, Kayla Franks, Jacob Grooms, Angeleah Jackson, Kristina King, Alexander Lewellen, Sean Smith, Jimmie Taylor, and Jeremy Turner.
