The good news for Jack Hoogendyk is he has already raised more money for his campaign war chest than during his entire 2010 primary campaign against U.S. Rep. Fred Upton.
The bad news is Upton is still outspending him by a huge margin and has raised nearly $1 million in January, February and March this year.
Upton has raised $988,640 during those three months, according to campaign finance reports released this week by the Federal Election Commission. That brings his total funds to $2.27 million.
Hoogendyk, meanwhile, has $56,644 cash on hand — or 2.5 percent of Upton’s war chest.
Upton has raised $1.6 million from political action committees and about $823,700 from individuals, according to the report.
