Twistees swamped for ‘spring’

Today’s the first day of spring, which gave folks lined up for ice cream at Twistees on the last day of “winter” Monday time to wonder what summer will bring.
Green grass is getting shaggy and needs mowing in the sandlot version of March madness.
Tree buds didn’t wait for Blossomtime.
The line was longer than usual because two girls were still at softball practice.
Derek Wilkins, a former marching band drummer, brought his girlfriend’s daughter as a treat after dance.
“She jumped for joy,” he said, though now Rachel Prak, 4, is preoccupied with spooning strawberry and vanilla swirl into her mouth.
“I’m just happy we have nice weather,” Wilkins said, “though we didn’t have that bad of a winter. I’ve got to start doing yardwork tomorrow at my grandpa’s house.”
Bill and Tracy Boyer’s bench of five children include some neighbor kids.
“We tried to get down here yesterday,” Tracy said, “but it was worse with two lines.”
“The bad thing is, if it’s like this now, what’s summer going to be like?” Bill said.
“Sears (where he works) has air conditions on sale.”
