NILES - One seat, three to try and fill it.
In the annual school elections which will be held May 8, voters for the Niles Community Schools will be asked to choose a new member of the school board.
There are three gentlemen who believe they have the qualifications, and who will be trying to win this lone position.
The first of the three is the incumbent, current School Board President Jerry French. The other two candidates are Dr. Toby Mitchell and Michael Gordon.
Jerry French
French was born and raised in Niles. He, as well as his children, are products of the schools here.
Dr. Toby Mitchell
The second candidate is Dr. Toby Mitchell, who has a chiropractic practice downtown Niles, and he is also from Niles and went through its school system.
Mitchell added, "I felt that I had an obligation to come back to this community and to give back, and serve it and the people who gave me so much, to the best of my ability."
Michael E. Gordon
The third candidate is Michael E. Gordon, who like the other two candidates was born and raised here in the community of Niles. He and his family have gone through the Niles schools.
