Brandywine senior Carlie Newman will end her career on a high note as she was named first team Class C All-State by the Associated Press Wednesday.
Newman, who ended her four-year career Tuesday night in the state quarterfinals, will leave the Bobcats as their all-time leading scorer with 1,598 points.
That total is the eighth best in the area.
She also holds the record for points in a game with 41 and has more than 200 career 3-pointers, also a school record.
“Carlie is special,” Brandywine coach Josh Hood said. “Everything she’s gotten, she’s earned. She’s just a special kid.”
The 5-foot-9 senior guard, who will continue her career at Spring Arbor, averaged 19.7 points per game with 7.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists.
In her four-year career, the Bobcats won four district titles, three regional titles and three straight Lakeland Conference crowns.
