Kathy Baldwin, 63

Kathy Jo Baldwin, 63, of South Bend and formerly of Niles, died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, following an extended illness.

She was born Nov. 8, 1948, in Niles to Joseph and Dorothy Lee (Crawford) Baldwin. She graduated from high school in California, and earned a certification in both medical assistance and as an insurance claim agent. She was employed for many years at the Mishawaka office of Liberty Mutual Insurance.

Kathy lived a bold life with an adventurous spirit and a great sense of humor. She enjoyed fishing anywhere, including the ocean, especially with her brother. Her greatest interest was her family.

Surviving family includes her sister, Shirley Grooms of Niles; nieces, Tania Grooms and Kimberly Rotzien; grandnephew and nieces, Parker Rotzien, Brook Rotzien and Melinda Martin; and great-nephew, Hunter Martin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Lesley Z. Baldwin, who died in 2000.

The funeral service for Kathy Jo Baldwin will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, at Bertrand Bible Church, Niles, with Pastor Tony Slagle of the church officiating. Interment will be at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
