Hoogendyk voted for $1 billion stimulus

Dear editor:

I received an email from Congressional candidate Jack Hoogendyk complaining about a mailer that highlighted a vote he cast as a state representative.

The mailer said Hoogendyk voted for Gov. Granholm’s $1 billion stimulus. In response to the mailer, Hoogendyk sent out a blistering email saying flatly that he did not vote for the $1 billion stimulus.

So, I looked it up and sure enough, on Sept. 28, 2005, Roll Call Vote 467, Rep. Jack Hoogendyk voted in favor of the $1 billion stimulus originally proposed by Granholm.

I do not know which is worse, that Mr. Hoogendyk voted for the $1 billion Granholm stimulus or his false claim that he voted “no.”
