Dowagiac goes undefeated at Brandywine tournament

NILES - The goal for Saturday's Brandywine "Snowed Out" Team Duals was simple. Get a look at No. 8 ranked South Haven.
Dowagiac's varsity wrestling team got more than a look at the rated Rams as the two schools squared off in the opening round of the tournament.
What was expected to be a close match turned out to be a blowout as the Chieftains romped to a 49-24 victory over the Rams.
Dowagiac finished the day 5-0 while South Haven finished 4-1.
Buchanan went 3-2 in its five matches with Brandywine going 2-3, St. Joseph's "B" team going 1-4 and Lawrence going 0-5.
Dowagiac (22-7) defeated Buchanan 36-31 in the second round, defeated St. Joseph 73-0 in the third round, defeated the host Bobcats 69-3 in the fourth round and defeated Lawrence in the fifth round 78-6.
Brandywine defeated St. Joseph's "B" team in the opening round, 77-6. In the second round the Bobcats fell to South Haven, 54-25. In the third round the Bobcats crushed Lawrence, 72-12, before losing to Dowagiac in the fourth round, 63-3.
In the fifth round, Brandywine was defeated by Buchananan, 51-22.
Buchanan opened the tournament with a 78-3 victory over Lawrence.
In the second round the Bucks fell to Dowagiac, 36-31. In the third round Buchanan lost to South Haven, 48-27.
The Bucks defeaetd St. Joseph in the fourth round, 78-6, before defeating the Bobcats in the fifth round, 51-22.
