Christopher W. Abel, 39, of Cassopolis, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Elkhart General Health System, Elkhart.
He was born Aug. 23, 1972, in South Bend to Phillip and Donna (Wukovits) Abel.  He married Jennifer Snyder on July 29, 2008, in Cassopolis.

Chris is survived by his wife, Jennifer Abel of Cassopolis; one daughter, Elizabeth Abel; parents, Phil and Donna Abel of South Bend; maternal grandmother, Joan Wukovits of South Bend; one sister, Laura “Laurie” (Dennis) Molnar of Mishawaka; father and mother-in-law, Ron and Tracy (Williams) Snyder of Cassopolis; sister-in-law, Elecia Hunsberger, and brother-in-law, Ronny Snyder, both of Cassopolis.
Chris will be laid to rest at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Cassopolis in a private family interment service. A memorial service for Chris is being planned for early February.
The family prefers memorial contributions be made to the Christopher Abel Memorial Fund, c/o Greater Niles Community Federal Credit Union, 1050 E. State St., Cassopolis, MI 49031.

Edith Hill, 96
Aug. 23, 1915 — Jan. 24, 2012

Edith D. Hill, 96, formerly of Calvin Township, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at her niece’s residence in Grand Rapids.
She was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Calvin Township to Clarence and Lizzie (Copley) Lawson. She married Walter C. Hill, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of Calvin Community Church and Order of Eastern Star, Calvin Center.
Mrs. Hill was also preceded in death by her siblings: Glenn Lawson, Josie Mathews, Mamie Ampey, Elviria Walden, Theolia Simpson, Forest Lawson, Zerel Coker, Martha Mitchell, Olive Mitchell and Hilda Schedler.
Aunt Edith was survived by her niece, Josephine Montgomery of Grand Rapids, with whom she resided, and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Family and friends gathered Monday, Jan. 30, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis, and a graveside service was held at Calvin Community Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Russell Haines, pastor of Calvin Community Chapel, officiated.

George Marvosh, 94
May 9, 1917 — Jan. 10, 2012

George Marvosh, longtime resident of Mayville, Mich., passed away Jan. 10, 2012, at age 94 in Cassopolis. He was born May 9, 1917, in Brookfield, Ohio to the late Eli and Sylvia (Merich) Marvosh.
In 1928 the family moved to Mayville, where they owned and operated an 80-acre dairy farm and sugarbush on Treasurer Road. The family farm remained with George for 75 years until sold in 2003. Upon retirement he and wife Rosemary moved to Cassopolis in 2004 to be near her family.
Preceding him in death were devoted wife, Rosemary (2009); siblings (in predeceased order) Mike, Sarah, Sam, Nick and Dan.
Survivors include stepdaughter and son-in-law, Penny and Jim Baxter of North Bonneville, Wash.; stepson, and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Wanda Havlik of Woodhaven, Mich.; nieces, Danica Marvosh and Maria Marvosh of Southern California; and many nieces and nephews in Michigan.
Private funeral services were held in Hesperia, Mich.
