The Board of Governors of Barn Swallow Theatre is issuing this open call for directors for the 2012 season. Anyone interested in directing a play is encouraged to apply.
The first season presentation will be a dinner/theater featuring dinner and one or two one act plays in late April or May.
The next play is normally the second and third weeks of June on Friday and Saturday evenings with a Sunday matinee. This may be modified to one week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a Sunday matinee. A comedy or drama may be considered.
The third presentation, usually a children’s play is the second week in July on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and a matinee on Sunday.
The fourth presentation has traditionally been a musical and presented the second and third weeks of August on Friday and Saturday evening with Sunday matinees. Again this may be modified to one week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a Sunday matinee.
They will also present a Barn Swallow Jamboree in September for one Saturday night performance followed by a pie auction. A director to coordinate this event is needed.
Additional plays and/or a Christmas play may also be considered.
Plays and dates may be interchangeable to accommodate commitments or conflicts with area or community events.
Additionally, the August play dates are in consideration of students who are returning to classes at that time of year.
