To the editor:

For those of us who would like to see the Bonine House and Carriage House in Vandalia restored to their former glory, there is a great new way to donate with no cost to you.
Harding’s grocery stores has a rebate program that sends a portion of each purchase to the Underground Railroad Society of Cass County (URSCC).
Simply pick up a card at any Harding’s and activate it by phone saying you’re with the Underground Railroad Society.
Use the card every time you shop at Harding’s and help restore these important properties.
Gordon Foods has a similiar program.
Pick up a card at the service desk in any GFS store, and say you’re with the Underground Railroad Society.
They will activate your card that you can use immediately.
As URSCC president, I’m thrilled to announce that Phase One of the Bonine House Restoration Project is complete.
The southwest corner has been taken down and rebuilt.
Phase Two, re-roofing both buildings and restoring the Bonine House tower, are projects slated for this year.
We are on our way to meeting our goals of creating community meeting houses and UGRR education centers.
Now everyone can be a part of this exciting, important project.
No purchase is too small and working together will make a big difference.
Tax-deductible donations can also be sent to URSCC, P.O. Box 124, Vandalia, MI 49095 or donate online at urscc.org. Thank you.
