Eddies defeated by Lancers, ’Rocks

STEVENSVILLE — After scoring 12 points in each of the first three quarters, host Lakeshore exploded for 24 points in the final stanza to earn a 60-40 non-conference boys’ basketball win over Edwardsburg Tuesday night.

The Eddies trailed just 12-9 after the opening quarter, but fell behind 24-16 at the break and trailed 36-28 heading to the final period.

Josh Kozinski led the Eddies with 21 points, while Kyle Slack added six.

Lakeshore was led by Austin Kaiser’s 13 points. Ryan Avery added 12 points with Loren Johnson and Harold Wiggins both scored 10 points.

BERRIEN SPRINGS — Despite a game-high 29 points from Josh Kozinski, the Edwardsburg boys’ basketball team dropped its Lakeland Conference opener to Berrien Springs Friday night.

The Eddies led 15-7 after one quarter, but trailed 34-28 at halftime as Berrien Springs outscored Edwardsburg 62-50 over the final three quarters to earn the 69-65 win.

In the second and third quarters, the Shamrocks (2-0, 1-0 Lakeland) outscored the Eddies (1-1, 0-1 Lakeland) 47-29 to turn an eight-point deficit into a 10-point lead (54-44) heading into the final quarter.

Besides Kozinski’s total, the Eddies also got 13 points from Kyle Slack.

Jeffrey Gumbo, along with Kozinski fouled out, led Berrien Springs with 27 points. Johnathon Williams and Zechariah Jenkins scored 13 and 11 points respectively.
