Charles F. “Charlie” Ackerman, 52, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, while a patient at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, after an illness.
He was born Sept. 20, 1949, in Kalamazoo, the son of the late James F. and Flora N. (Shear) Ackerman, and has lived here for the past 30 years.
Charlie was married Mar 23, 1975, in Allegan to Linda Joanne Barron, who survived with three brothers, George Ackerman and Roger (Carol) Ackerman, both of Kalamazoo and John (Wilma) Ackerman of Onalaska, Texas. Besides his parents being deceased, he had one son, Andrew, who is also deceased.
Charlie was employed at Dodge Manufacturing in Mishawaka, and then he was a driver for Harold Zeigler Ford, and then worked for Martin’s Super Market. He loved his two dogs and was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Edwardsburg and served in the U.S. Army.
Memorial Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. at Hope United Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Rd., Edwardsburg, where family and friends may gather from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Reese, pastor.
There will be military honors provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard following the services.
