On Monday, June 6 at the Edwardsburg Eagle Lake School, two bikes were awarded through a drawing for third grade students.

A bike was awarded to one boy and one girl.

To qualify for the drawing, students had to read a number of teacher approved books to have their names entered. The winners were Juve Soto and Mallory Barnosky. The bikes were presented by Robert Parrish, past master of St. Peters Lodge 106, Free and Accepted Masons, in Edwardsburg.

The program was presented to the school by St. Peters Lodge and was co-sponsored by the Greater Niles Area Federal Credit Union. At the assembly for the drawing, all participants enjoyed Captain’s Pizza and all received a gift bag of prizes and coupons.

The program was initiated by Parrish in memory of his mother, who passed along to him the joy of reading.
