BERRIEN SPRINGS — Senior Rachel Vite has been the leading scorer for the Edwardsburg girls’ basketball team this season, but on Friday night it was her defense that got her noticed.

Vite still was among the Eddies’ top scorers with 13 points, but it was her defensive effort against Berrien Springs standout Kobe Gillespie that helped the team to a 53-23 Lakeland Conference victory.

Vite also grabbed seven rebounds for Edwardsburg, which got a game-high 16 points from Emily Kozinski and 14 points from Sarah D’Amico.
