Charles Nash, Jr., 82, of Vandalia, passed away Thursday evening, Jan. 20, 2011 at Riverview Manor in Three Rivers, after a three-year battle with dementia.

He was born July 6, 1928 in Vicksburg to Charles and Cleota (Stuck) Nash. He married Bertha Wolf, who preceded him in death in 1986. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Donna Nash, in 2009.

He was a lifelong farmer with a passion for taking care of the dairy cows at the Jim and Ann File farm in Vandalia.

He is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Springer of Marcellus; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jimmie Nash of Jones, and Charlie and Pat Nash of Vandalia; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Family and friends gathered Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.

Private family interment was held at Poe Cemetery.
