Buchanan remains undefeated in Lakeland action

BUCHANAN — The Buchanan Bucks remained undefeated Thursday (Dec. 16) with a 52-41 Lakeland Conference boys’ basketball win over visiting Cassopolis.
The Bucks took an 11-6 lead after one period of play and slowly built upon it. Buchanan was up 27-21 at halftime and 43-31 entering the fourth quarter.
Izaih Dorsey led the Bucks (3-0, 2-0 Lakeland) with 12 points, while Jalen Brown added 12 and Ryan Catalano seven.
The Rangers (2-2, 1-2 Lakeland) were led by Nate Hartline, Oliver Fiala and Jacob Lee with 10 points each.

Visiting Clinton Christian handed Edwardsburg a 62-56 setback on Thursday (Dec. 16) as it outscored the Eddies 23-15 in the fourth quarter.
Clinton grabbed a 19-12 advantage after one period of play and led 32-27 at halftime.
Edwardsburg was able to catch Clinton by the end of the third quarter by outscoring the visitors 12-7.
The two teams were deadlocked at 39-39 heading into the final frame.
Josh Kozinski led all scorers with 24 points. The Eddies also got eight points from Ethan Zimmerman, seven points from Kyle Dale and six points from Marcus Albrecht.
Judson Yoder paced a balanced Clinton Christian attack with 19 points. Tyler Eash added 15, Trenton Miller 11 and Justin Stutzman 10.

BUCHANAN — Visiting Cassopolis used its size advantage to overpower host Buchanan on Friday night.
The Rangers (3-2, 2-2 Lakeland) outscored the Bucks (1-4, 0-3 Lakeland) 20-13 in the final quarter to pull away to the victory.
Buchanan led 12-11 after one quarter of play, but Cassopolis held a 10-3 advantage in the scoreboard in the second quarter to open up a 21-15 advantage at the half.
The Bucks kept it close throughout the third quarter and trailed just 33-27 heading into the final eight minutes of play.
Reese Ellison led Cassopolis and all scorers with 21 points. The Rangers also got 11 points from Lela Broussard and nine points from Tammy Lee.
The Bucks were led by Erin Glavin’s 16 points. Chelsea Adolph finished with 12 points and Ashlyn Pastryk with eight.

ST. JOSEPH — Visting Edwardsburg was no match for St. Joseph Tuesday night in girls’ basketball action.
The Eddies were outscored 16-8 in the opening quarter and they were unable to catch the Bears, trailing 33-23 at halftime and 59-45 heading into the final quarter.
Rachel Vite had 20 points for Edwardsburg, which also got 17 points from Emily Kozinski and seven points from Mariah Murphy.
Katie Mavis scored a game-high 23 points to lead St. Joseph. Erika and LeAnne Priebe finished with 15 and 14 points respectively.

The Rangers also got 10 points from Reese Ellison and nine points from Savannah Sullivan and Lela Broussard.
Laura Sifrig led the Lakers with 14 points.
