William Case, 83 / July 7, 1927 — Nov. 23, 2010

William Lee “Bill” Case, 83, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 while a patient at Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis, after an illness.
Bill was born July 7, 1927 in Greenfield, Ohio to the late Claude and Ida (Hall) Case. He came to Edwardsburg about 53 years ago from Mishawaka, Ind. Bill was a finish carpenter, mostly working for himself.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, a member of the Edwardsburg Conservation Club and Edwardsburg VFW Post 2284. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the area lakes with his buddies.
Bill was married Oct. 24, 1953 in Mishawaka to Betty Lou Collins, who passed away Jan. 29, 2003.
Surviving are his children, Victoria (Tim) Wright of Niles; Claudia Case and Rebecca Maxwell, both of Edwardsburg; Bill Case Jr. of Cassopolis; and Jim (Sue) Case of Elkhart, Ind. There are eight loving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. There are two sisters surviving, Martha Schiller of Chillicothe, Ohio and Geneva (Norman) Metzler of Syracuse, Ind.
Bill was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Case, and two sisters, Mamie Himbaugh and Louise Fortney.
Cremation has taken place.
There was a graveside service Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 in Edwardsburg Cemetery, where Bill was laid to rest next to his wife, Betty. Officiating was the Rev. Jeff Reese, pastor of Hope United Methodist Church. The U.S. Navy Honor Guard, accompanied by the Edwardsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2284, gave military rites .
Following the graveside service was a celebration of Bill’s life at the VFW post in Edwardsburg, 69946 M-52.
