Edwardsburg one win away from qualifying for playoffs

Chad Tevlin rushed for 123 yards as Edwardsburg defeated visiting Coloma 41-0 in a Lakeland Conference contest.

The Eddies improved to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in league play, bouncing back from a 28-27 loss to Buchanan last Friday night.

Also scoring touchdowns for the Eddies were Adam Kendall, Austin Stinnett (twice), Kyle Dale on a pass from Ethan Zimmerman, who finished the night 4-of-4 for 66 yards.

Justin Steinke scored the final touchdown for the Eddies, who finished the night with 334 yards rushing.

The Edwardsburg defense limited the Comets to just 95 yards in total offense.

Kendall opened the scoring with a 3-yard run to give the Eddies a 7-0 lead after one quarter of play.

Edwardsburg scored three times in the second quarter to turn the game into a rout.

Austin Stinnett made it 14-0 on a 1-yard run, while Lee Williams’ 5-yard effort extended the lead to 21-0.

Kyle Dale hauled in a 12-yard pass from Ethan Zimmerman to complete the first half scoring.

The Eddies tacked on a touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters.

Stinnett picked up his second touchdown on a 5-yard run and Steinke capped the scoring with a 20-yard run.

Edwardsburg finished the night with 334 yards rushing and 400 yards of total offense.

The Comets managed just 95 yards in total offense, of which 75 yards came from the passing game. Edwardsburg allowed just 20 yards rushing in the contest.

Jack Harris led the defensive charge with nine tackles. Telvin picked off a Coloma pass.

The Eddies are back in action next Friday night against host Brandywine. Edwardsburg needs just one more victory to qualify for the post season, while a win will also keep its hopes alive of sharing the conference championship.
