Wrestlers advance to state meet

The Edwardsburg Wrestling Club consists of 52 wrestlers this year and it has been another outstanding season.

Several of the wrestlers have competed in 13 tournaments through the Michigan Youth Wrestling Association.

On Saturday, March 20, 26 wrestlers competed in the Regional Tournament at the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek and 17 of the wrestlers advanced to the state tournament, which will be held this weekend at the Kellogg Arena as well.

Those qualifiers are Caedin Pulling, Caden Reece, Jacob Reece, Noah Tinkham, Mac Gaideski, Jarrett Tighe, Lucas Pierce, Devin Pulling, Joshua Harris, Steven Harris, Andrew Flick, Michael Higley, Joey Hess, Blake Parsons, Michael Kempton, Dillon Cline and Terry Brasfield.

At the regionals, Reece, Tinkham, Flick, Kempton and Higley all won weight class championships.

Finishing second were Pulling, Reece, Harris and Parsons.

Placing third was Joshua Harris. Earning fourth place finishes were Tighe, Pierce, Pulling, Joey Hess, Cline and Brasfield. Taking fifth were Cody Adkins, Austin Cline, Devon McGrath, Bo Thomas and Michael Borden. Finishing sixth was Bradley Brasfield.
