EDWARDSBURG – Where did we come from?
Did we arrive here by chance, or is there a God who is intimately involved in the design of humanity and in all of life on earth? This topic, along with several others, will be addressed at Community Baptist Church of Edwardsburg Saturday, Oct. 10, and Sunday, Oct. 11, during its Creationism Conference.
Speaker for the two-day conference will be Dr. Donald DeYoung, chairman of the Department of Physical Sciences at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind.
The conference begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, with Dr. DeYoung giving an overview of the creation/evolution debate.
Dr. DeYoung has B.S. and M.S. degrees in physics from Michigan Tech and a Ph. D. in physics from Iowa State University. In addition, he has his M. Div. from Grace Seminary. He is the author of eight Biblically-based books on science, including Astronomy and the Bible: Questions and Answers, and Our Created Moon, Earth’s Fascinating Neighbor.
School boards in Kansas, Pennsylvania and Georgia have received national attention in the past 10 years because of their stances challenging the teaching of Darwinian evolution as fact in their schools.
Despite exclusive teaching of Darwinian evolution in public schools across the country, not all of America is sold on the theory. Gallup tracks such opinions, and according to its Web site, more than 40 percent of Americans believe God created man in its present form, while less than 15 percent of Americans think God had no part in the development of humanity. Community Baptist is located two miles west of the village limits, west of Conrad Road.
