CASSOPOLIS -- The Cassopolis Rocket Football League will hold its final sign up on Saturday at the Red Brick School gym form 8-10 a.m.
Cass Rocket Football has joined a new league which includes Niles, Dowagiac, Edwardsburg and Brandywine with a jamboree to kick off the new season.
The new league has two divisions. The Minor League Division is for ages 8-10 year-olds (as of Oct. 31) under 115 pounds. The Major League is for 10-12 year-olds still in the sixth grade 115 pounds and over.
Cost to participate this year is $60. Also, parents who work the full season will receive another $10 rebate per adult worker. Scholarships are available, call Lloyd Montgomery at (574) 849-2463 for more information.
Anyone who did not pay last year must do so before being allowed to play this season.
Prior to the season there will be three practices per week with a minimum of two coaches at each practice. Players are expected to be at the practices from 6 p.m. until dark (about 7:30). There will be no practicing after dark and parents are expected to be there on time or stay.
The league will be focusing on Commitment to Ranger Pride this season and will have no tolerance for swearing, talking back to coaches, and other unsportsmanlike behavior. Rules will be provided either at sign up or during practice.
Newly purchased uniforms are being provided for the cheerleaders and will be ready for pictures. A banquet will be held at the end of the season.
