CASSOPOLIS – Cassopolis United Methodist Church (CUMC) is ready to begin the 2008 Advent season. In addition to following the traditional Advent themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love on the respective Sundays of Nov. 30, Dec. 7, Dec.14, and Dec. 21, two special events are planned.
The first seasonal special event is Christmas by Candlelight to be conducted at 6:45 p.m. on December 1. This annual gathering of area women offers a time of fellowship with neighbors and friends as well as a time of reflection on the "holiness" of Christmas.
The second special event of 2008's Advent will be the presence of southern gospel singer Jerry Garcia at the worship service on Dec.14, at 10:30 a.m. and again for an evening concert on that same date at 7 p.m.
The church family invites members of the community to join them at any or all of the services. A warm welcome, a meaningful message of the season from God's Word, and the presence of God's spirit are guaranteed.
The church is located at 209 S. Rowland St. and can be entered at the front sanctuary doors or from the rear O'Keefe Street parking lot. Greeters are available at both entrances to assist newcomers. Nursery services, large print bulletins, and hearing assistance are also available.
Sunday morning children and teen classes are also conducted each Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
