The Bridgman Bees have another win to add to their record, beating the Brandywine Bobcats 73-38 Thursday at Brandywine.
Things didn't seem like they were going to be easy for Bridgman in the first half. A team that is used to taking a big lead early couldn't get Brandywine off its back.
Although Brandywine never took the lead, they stayed within a few points of Bridgman in the first quarter. The Bobcats' tough offense and defense proved to be a wake up call for the Bees. Brandywine played very aggressive and didn't show any slack. Bridgman had a small lead going into the second, ahead 16-12.
Brandywine showed no sign of letting up in the second, and still played tough on both ends. Even with a 10-point gap half way through the quarter, the Bobcats still hung on and played hard. Kalie Newman hit her first and only three for the night in the second. Bridgman ended the quarter ahead 39-24.
Going into the second half, both teams knew they had a battle on their hands. Brandywine wasn't going to let up and Bridgman wanted to hang onto the lead. The game went from aggressive to physical. Both teams were frustrated, but Bridgman was able to shake it off. Brandywine became more and more frustrated and lost concentration.
So frustrated that he received a technical late in the third period.
The Bees didn't let the frustration get in the way and were able to take a 58-29 lead entering the final quarter.
Though Brandywine played one of their hardest games and hung with an undefeated team, the Bobcats weren't able to catch up to Bridgeman. Both teams seemed tired in the fourth after playing a very aggressive game. Bridgman ended the game with a 73-38 victory.
Bridgman's Heather Seyfred had 31 points for the Bees. Something not uncommon for the junior. She averages 25 points per game.
Brandywine's JV team also suffered 52-44 loss in overtime to Bridgeman. Brooke Allen had 20 points for the Bobcats and Kendra Zache added 17 points. Erica Eddy gave Bridgman 21 points.
