CASSOPOLIS -- Cass County Animal Shelter is hosting an "Animal Af'fair" Saturday, July 26.
The event is in conjunction with Woof Studios' "Purrfect Portraits of Pets" and also kicks off the 152nd Cass County Fair week.
Woof Studios of Buchanan will be at the shelter on Saturday, July 26, taking pictures of pets. Portrait appointments can be made by calling (269) 445-1233.
There is a $5 sitting fee. Proof pictures will be available after the sitting. Picture packages are paid for on that day, with finished portraits arriving in four to six weeks.
Other events of the day include a Canine Contest with prizes for categories of best dressed, most talented, most obedient, ugliest and most all-around.
Entry forms for the canine contest are available at the shelter.
Registration for the canine contest begins July 14 and runs through July 24. There is a $3 entry fee for the canine contest. Judging begins July 26 at 11 a.m.
There will be a Whiskers 2003 Feline Contest in the former Catsopolis Days tradition.
Cat owners interested in entering their cat in the contest will need to complete an entry form and provide a photo of their cat.
Entry fee for the contest is $3. Deadline for entry in the Whiskers contest is July 18.
The number of "votes" they receive at a dime a vote will determine the winner.
Voting will begin on July 22 at the shelter and continue through fair week at the animal shelter booth.
There will also be a raffle and bake sale.
All proceds of the Animal Af'fair raffle, canine and feline contests and bake sale will be placed in the shelter donation fund to be used for spay/neuter asisstance to Cass County residents, veterinary assistance for shelter animals and shelter promotion.
