Dowagiac Union School District Board of Education budget hearing precedes the regular meeting tonight, June 20.

The budget hearing begins at 6:45 p.m. in the middle school cafeteria, 57072 Riverside Drive, with presentation of the 2011-2012 budget by conroller Dawn Copley.

The regular meeting follows at 7.

The agenda includes: the retirements of Vickie Herter from Justus Gage Elementary School and Carole Gillesby from Pathfinders; family medical leaves for Betsy Cornish, Sister Lakes Elementary School; Brooke Osbeck, Dowagiac Middle School; and Alison Yeo and Ashley Horvath, Justus Gage.
Sara Lawrence is being considered for varsity girls volleyball coach.

Under old business is approval of 2011-2012 student handbook changes.

Superintendent Dr. Mark Daniel will be addressing new business, including approval of the final 2010-2011 budget revision, approval of the preliminary 2011-2012 budget, approval of a health insurance policy holder resolution, approval of 2011-2012 Michigan High School Athletic Association membership and scheduling the annual organizational meeting for 7 p.m. July 18 at DMS.
