KALAMAZOO — The Niles golf team finished fifth at the Kalamazoo Country Club Invitational on Monday held at the historic Kalamazoo Country Club.

The host Irish captured first place after tying Vicksburg with a team total of 322. Hackett won the title based on the fifth-man tiebreaker.

Kalamazoo Christian was third with a 332, while St. Joseph and Niles tied at 336. The Bears earned the spot by way of the same tiebreaker.

Lakeshore finished sixth, Kalamazoo Central seventh, Schoolcraft eight, Delton-Kellogg ninth and Mattawan 10th.

The Vikings’ Chris Noble earned medalist honors with a two-over par 73. That honor also had to be decided via a tiebreaker as Vicksburg’s Scott Manski also shot 73.

The Vikings and the rest of the Big 16 Conference West Division will tee it up on Wednesday to decide the championship at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor.
