CASSOPOLIS — Ruby L. Green, 90, of Vandalia, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.

She was born Nov. 24, 1920, in Vandalia to James Romaine and Gladys (Hodges) Heslet.

She married James E. Green in Penn Township on Nov. 9, 1938. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2010. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Jewell Huyghebart, and one brother, Nelson Heslet.

Ruby graduated from Vandalia High School. She was mostly a mom, grandma and homemaker and worked for a time at G. W. Jones Exchange Bank, Marcellus.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW William E. Lozier Post 10704, Cassopolis, Bethel Community Church, Cassopolis, and worked for many years as chairman of the Penn Township Election Board.

Ruby is survived by: four daughters, Carol (Stanley) Nederhoed of Middleville, Sandra (Robert) Wright of Vandalia, Linda (Jonathan) Tone of Cassopolis and Kathy (Steven) Asmus of Vandalia; three sons, Thomas (Rose) Green of Cassopolis, James G. (Linda) Green of Vandalia and Jeffrey (Debbie) Green of Vandalia; 29 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather on Monday, Sept. 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway, Cassopolis.

Services will be on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul A. Pawelski, former pastor of Bethel Community Church officiating.

Interment will follow in Young’s Prairie Cemetery.
