Brandywine tennis team fit to be tied again

BUCHANAN — In a highly competitive Lakeland Conference tennis match, visiting Brandywine and Buchanan had to settle for a 4-4 draw.
It was the second straight day to the Bobcats had to settle for a tie in league competition. Brandywine and Edwardsburg played to a draw on Tuesday afternoon in a battle of Lakeland Conference unbeatens.
The Bucks swept the singles flights in straight sets, while the Bobcats swept the doubles flights. Brandywine’s Ashley DeJonge and Lena Miles defeated Buchanan’s Maddie Higgins and Dana Dowell in three sets, 6-4, 3-6 and 6-0.

The Lancers won all eight flights in straight sets.
The Vikings lost a pair of close matches at No. 1 singles and No. 3 doubles.
Anna Flahaven lost to Andrea Klingspon at No. 1 singles 7-6 and 6-3. At No. 3 doubles, Michelle Briand and Anna Benjamin lost to Amber Lape and Rachel Lange 7-5 and 6-4.

The Chieftains were defeated 8-0 by the Bulldogs, losing every flight in straight sets.
The most competitive match of the day came at No. 1 doubles where Jessica Martin and Megan Hornbert fell to Abbey Woodstock and Baily Thompson 6-4 and 6-3.
