The Dowagiac freshmen and JV football teams swept visiting St. Joseph and Comstock respectively Thursday night.

The freshmen team blanked the Bears 32-0, while the JV Chieftains posted a 57-0 win.

Freshmen football

Shane Bevins had 129 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown for the Chieftains, who also got a pair of touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown from Davion Highsmith.

Ray Vega and Lucas Petro both caught touchdown passes.

Brody Froehlich had seven tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble.

JV football

Dowagiac opened up a 51-0 halftime lead and coasted from there.

Comstock finished with just two first downs on the night.

The defense caused several turnovers and returned a blocked punt for a touchdown.
