More businesses are expected to participate in the second annual Greater Niles/Buchanan Area Business to Business Expo in May.

Dubbed EXPOsing Greatness, the expo is put on by the Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce, the Buchanan Chamber of Commerce and the Southwest Michigan Economic Growth Alliance.

The gathering, to take place May 4, is expected to attract between 50 and 60 businesses to Lake Michigan College’s Bertrand Crossing campus in Niles, according to Ron Sather, president of the Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce.

Last year the expo drew about 50 businesses and more than 600 people in what Sather said was a successful debut.

Sather said the purpose of the event is for business owners to network and for businesses to get exposure to the public.

“I told one of the Niles retailers that more people will be exposed to your name at the expo than enter your store in a year,” Sather said.

The event is free to the public. Registration for businesses costs $175 and includes a table, electrical outlets and free wi-fi. Sather said the cost is inexpensive compared to other similar events that charge $500 or more. The deadline for registration is Wednesday.

Chamber membership is not required to register.

New this year are several business development seminars. The 15- to 20-minute seminars will focus on franchising, marketing and management tips and business fraud prevention.

The event will also feature free food samples from many Niles area restaurants, including Riverfront Cafe, the Hob Nob, Pete’s Patio, the Tavern and Millennium Steakhouse.

The expo is sponsored by United Federal Credit Union. For more information about the event, visit www.exposinggreatness.com.
