CASSOPOLIS - Two 19-year-olds from Dowagiac, along with one more young man, broke into 10 or more vehicles on Howell Drive, in the Diamond Lake area of Cassopolis, late on Jan. 18 and early the next morning.
Rodney Doncilovic, 26615 Dutch Settlement Rd. and Bradley West, 301 First Ave., made their first conviction a felony leading to 150 days in jail and two years probation.
In Cass County Circuit Court Friday morning, Judge Michael E. Dodge said they both could served their time at the Twin County Probation Program, but if they don't finish, it is will be probation violation.
They both also must pay $960 probation fees, $450 court costs, $350 attorney fees, $60 Crime Victims' Fund, $60 state costs, and share, with the third member of their crime spree, restitution of $2,190.94.
Even though West was basically a look-out, Dodge added, he was still equally responsible.
In other sentencings:
Jeffrey Grindstaff, 43 and Corrina Smith, 36, 18806 Stateline Rd., Edwardsburg, received identical sentences for possession of a short barreled shotgun/rifle, found under the mattress at their home on March 19, 2004.
They will each be on probation for 18 months, pay $1,350 in probation fees, along with $450 court costs, $60 Crime Victims' Fund, and $60 state costs.
Starling Kennedy, 17, 105 Ashland St., Dowagiac, is "starting his record with a bang," said Judge Dodge, "with a 20-year felony." Kennedy was arrested by Cass County Sheriff's deputies on May 10, 2004, for delivery and manufacture cocaine less than 50 grams at South Lowe and Pokagon Street, Dowagiac.
Dodge sentenced Kennedy to 89 days time served and two years probation.
His license is suspended for 180 days. He is to pay $960 probation fees, $450 court costs, $350 attorney fees, $60 Crime Victims' Fund, and $60 state costs.
Eric Curtis, 40, 64520 Spaniolo Dr., Cassopolis, was sentenced one year probation and 58 days time served for delivery and manufacturing of 20 marijuana plants, at a home owned by his mother.
The marihuana was discovered when the Cass County Sheriff's Department went to the house on request of Midwest Energy, after power had been restore illegally.
His license is suspended for 180 days. He is to pay $480 probation fees, $450 court costs, $350 attorney fees, $60 Crime Victims' Fund, a $350 fine, and $60 state costs.
Andrea Eyer, 24, 40158 W. Red Arrow, Paw Paw, was picked up at the home she was living at Finch Road, Marcellus, on Feb. 17, 2004, for possession of methamphetamine.
Eyer's boy friend had already been sent to prison, but since she cooperated with officers about stolen property in the house, she was sentenced to two years probation. Her license is suspended for 180 days.
She is to pay $960 probation fees, $450 court costs, $350 attorney fees, $60 Crime Victims' Fund, and $60 state costs.
