Gators sweep LaPorte, St. Joe

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA Gators swim team grabbed 30 first-place finishes in its victory over LaPorte, Ind., and St. Joe in a meet Wednesday.
Guiding the Gators were Spencer Fuller in the boys' eight and under division, Emily Gordon in the girls' eight and under division, Amanda Harlow in the girls' 9-10 division and Ian Dippo in the boys' 13-14 divsion. Each won a team-high three races.
The Gators also compiled 21 second-place and 12 third-place ribbons.
Other top finishers for the Gators included:
In the boys' eight and under division, James Norms finished first in the 25-meter backstroke and second in the 25-meter freestyle (competing in the 6 and under). He also finished second in the 50-meter freestyle.
Parker Salad placed first in the 50-meter freestyle. He was also second in the 25-meter butterfly and the 25-meter breaststroke.
Traction Salad took first place in the 25-meter freestyle and second in the 25-meter backstroke.
Bekah Polega finished third in the 25-meter backstroke and the 25-meter freestyle in the girls' eight and under division, while Erin Polega won the 25-meter breaststroke and the 100-meter individual medley.
Also in the girls' eight and under division, Katie Polega finished second in the 25-meter backstroke and the 25-meter freestyle. She also took third place in the 50-meter freestyle.
Caitlin Dippo finished second in the 100-meter freestyle in the girls' 9-10 division, third in the 100-meter individual medley, and fourth in the 50-meter butterfly.
Allie Fuller won the 50-meter butterfly in the same division. She also finished second in the 50-meter backstroke and the 50-meter freestyle. Sarah Polega grabbed first place in the 100-meter freestyle and the 50-meter freestyle.
Kelsey Rankel finished second in the 100-meter freestyle and the 100-meter individual medley in the girls' 9-10 class. She also finished third in the 50-meter butterfly.
In the boys' 11-12 division, Ty Alexander took first in the 100-meter individual medley, second in the 50-meter breaststroke, and third in the 50-meter butterfly.
Evan Harlow finished second in the 100-meter freestyle, 50-meter backstroke, and 50-meter freestyle in the same class. TJ Polega finished first in the 50-meter backstroke and 50-meter freestyle. He also finished second in the 50-meter butterfly.
Taylor Fuller finished third in the 50-meter backstroke in the girls' 11-12 division, and Emily Mills finished first in the 100-meter freestyle and the 50-meter backstroke.
Also in the girls' 11-12 division, Carlee Rankle finished second in the 50-meter butterfly, third in the 50-meter freestyle, and fourth in the 100-meter individual medley.
In the boys' 13-14 division, Michael Rattenbury finished first in the 100-meter butterfly, second in the 50-meter freestyle, and third in the 100-meter breaststroke.
Megan Curry finished first in the 100-meter breaststroke in the girls' 13-14 division. She also finished second in the 100-meter butterfly and the 200-meter individual medley.
Jessy Gordon finished second in the 100-meter backstroke in the same class. She also finished third in the 100-meter freestyle and fourth in the 50-meter freestyle.
Emily Harlow placed first in the 100-meter freestyle for the 13-14 year olds. She also took third in the 100-meter breaststroke and the 200-meter individual medley.
Also in the girls' 13-14 division, Lindsey McCarty finished first in the 100-meter backstroke and the 50-meter freestyle and third in the 100-meter butterfly.
