Buchanan blanks Bobcats in district

For the fourth straight game, the Brandywine varsity soccer team could not manage to outscore Buchanan.
The two teams met in the first round of the Division 4 District Tournament at Bridgman High School Tuesday evening and Buchanan survived with a 1-0 decision.
The Bucks, now 6-10-5, advance to play Lake Michigan Catholic on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Felicia Lotsbaich scored the only goal of the game off an assist from Megan Hubbell.
Buchanan took 14 shots on the Brandywine goal and Brandywine goalkeeper Judy Schlutt came up with 13 saves. The Bobcats managed five shots and Brittany Harrington saved all five.
St. Joe ends Niles' season
The Niles varsity soccer team's season came to an end Tuesday evening after suffering a 10-0 loss to St. Joseph at Upton Middle School in the opening round of the Division 2 District Tournament.
No further results were available at press time.
St. Joseph will take on Benton Harbor on Thursday at 7 p.m. Mattawan and Lakeshore play in the other semifinal.
