The Niles-Brandywine Girls Softball Association has added a new dimension this season. The league has formed a pair of travelling softball teams made up entirely of players who are registered to play in the league this summer.
All players on the travel teams will also be members of the league's teams and will play regular-season games at Firemen's Youth Park.
The Intensity 12 and Under team recently took first place at the Warsaw, Ind. NSA World Series Qualifier, earning, for a second time, a berth to the NSA World Series in East Peoria, Ill.
The 12 and Under team consists of Alex Lenox, Patti Anton, Nicole Newman, Kaley Jones, Demi Schrader, Holly Lucas, Ashton Gordon, Taylor Watson, Delana Schroeder, Maggie Ernsberger, Anna Callahan and Jenna Ignowski. Dennis Ignowski is the head coach and is assisted by Chris Schrader and Mark Remus.
The 14 and Under team consists of Emily Ross, Kristina Ford, Nicole Ignowski, Kylee Mudd, Kendra Zache, Mariette Strauss, Shelley Aurand, Ashley Pointer, Karly Kennedy, Stephanie Stoops, Cricket Fisher, Carly Gordon and Denise Echevarria. Rick Zache is the head coach and is assisted by Don Ross and Kerry Kennedy.
Sponsors for the travel teams include Watson's Tree Service, Niles Precision, Niles Pro Muffler, Art Image, Ellen Wyant DMD, Gallaghers Carpet, RGE Gordon Engineering, Denny's Automotive, Joe Jilek, Patrick McCullough, Pat Dowling, Trend Cuts, Whispering Pine Kennels, Coleman Cakes and Brown Automotive.
