Brandywine standout makes college choice

NILES -- After three years as the starting quarterback for the Brandywine High School varsity football team, Evan Smith has decided to continue his academic and athletic career at Albion College.
In his three years as quarterback for the Bobcats, Smith led the team to the Michigan State Playoffs in 2002 and played defense as well.
He rushed for more than 1,000 yards during his senior season and was awarded the team's Jerry Post Most Valuable Player award.
As a senior, Smith earned Second Team All-Conference honors as a quarterback and a defensive back.
During his time at Brandywine, Smith also was a four-year starter on the varsity wrestling team and tallied more than 100 career victories. He advanced to the individual state finals as a senior.
