CASSOPOLIS – The Cass County Sheriff's Office reports that it has been made aware of another scam that involves persons attempting to gain bank data from private companies.
Businesses have received a faxed letter targeting registered contractors for the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The letter asks that the recipient fill out a form that gives bank account information to the sender and then fax it back to them.
The Department of Transportation has advised that this letter is NOT from its office and that it does not ask for this type of information in this manner.
Companies/individuals that receive this fax should destroy it and are reminded that they should not send banking or personal information to any unsolicited source.
