Hunter shot in head in LaGrange

CASSOPOLIS – A Cassopolis man deerhunting with two other people was struck in the head New Year's Eve.
David MicKiewicz, 26, of Cassopolis, was reported in stable condition after what the Cass County Sheriff's Office called an accidental shooting between 4 and 4:30 p.m. Dec. 31 in LaGrange Township.
Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his office is investigating the shooting.
MicKiewicz was deer hunting with two unidentified persons when someone fired a shot at a deer.
The round passed through the thicket, striking MicKiewicz in the head.
Unknown persons transported him to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.
He was later transported to Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo for treatment.
This case remains under investigation.
