Bucks blank Coloma to open league

The Buchanan varsity tennis team opened play in the Lakeland Conference Wednesday afternoon with an 8-0 victory at Coloma.
The Bucks gave up just four games in doubles play and seven in singles.
At No. 1 singles, Buchanan's Jose Gonzalez beat Rico Fajardo 6-0, 6-0. Jeff Eifler beat Cody Krieger 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Buchanan's True Sulier beat Mark Stevens 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
The No. 4 singles match was the closest of the day, with Buchanan's Ryan Skene beating Steve Covert 7-5, 6-0.
The Buchanan No. 1 doubles team of Chad VanLue and Doug Summers beat Kasey Weber and James Bradshaw 6-1, 6-0. At No. 2 doubles, the Buchanan team of Alex Flood and Alex Gordon beat Jeret Mitchell and Ryan Saltzman 6-0, 6-0.
Buchanan's No. 3 doubles team of Mike Otwell and Korey Camp beat Derek Stonebreaker and Jarred Haskins 6-1, 6-1. Finally, Buchanan's Dustin Sieff and Andrew Gordon beat Alex Ortleb and Nate Gire 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 doubles.
Buchanan plays at the Lowell Tournament Saturday.
