NILES – Mira Mildred Cripps, 76, of Floral Drive, Niles, passed away at her home on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008.
Mildred was born on March 11, 1932, to the late Charlie and Ida (Adamson) Thurman in Daylight, Tenn. She was one of three children growing up in the Thurman household.
On Oct. 3, 1947, Mildred wed the love of her life, Stanton Charles Cripps, at a ceremony in Rossville, Ga.
Together they had three wonderful children.
When Mildred wasn't redecorating her house or making a quilt for a family member, she could be found outside relaxing, fishing and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanton Charles Cripps and brother-in-law B.F. Wilson.
Mildred is survived by: her children, James (Shirley) Cripps of South Bend, Ind., Leonard (Kathryn) Cripps of Duncan, Okla., and Donna Fields of Dowagiac; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters Pauline Wilson of Murfeesboro, Tenn., and Leona (Cecil) Danderand of Harrisonburg, Va.
Funeral services for Mildred will be on Friday, Nov. 21, at 2:30 p.m. with a time of visitation two hours prior. Pastor Thompson will be officiating.
Mildred will be interred at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made in Mildred's name to the Church of Christ, 1515 Huron St., Niles, MI 49120.
