To the editor:
As a field organizer for the Barack Obama campaign, my area consisted of Niles to New Buffalo, the state line to St. Joseph.
I have been employed by the last five presidential campaigns, and I have never seen so many people take time out of their busy day to volunteer for a campaign.
Because people were tired of the same old politics out of Washington, they wanted change.
It was for that reason that Republicans, Democrats and independents came out by the hundreds to help with this history-making campaign.
They knocked on thousands of doors and made thousands of phone calls to make southwest Michigan and our country a better place to live.
During the last four days leading up to the election, there were well over 900 volunteers helping out in the Niles Campaign for Change office and the Harbor Country for Obama office.
I would like to thank everyone involved, but that would be impossible.
Thank you to Georgia Boggs for donating her building for the office in Niles and everyone in the Harbor Country For Obama office for making Berrien County go blue.
When I first found out what area I was in charge of, I thought it would be impossible to turn southern Berrien County blue, but due to all the hard work of the volunteers, people voted for change and made everything possible.
Although this was one of the hardest jobs I have ever had, it was, by far, the most rewarding.
Thank you again to all the volunteers for making history in this election.
